A LITTLE EXTRA

What is Stevens Johnson Syndrome Scotland

I run the only online support system in Scotland.

In this day and age its up to the individual to become knowledgeable of Stevens Johnson syndrome as the medical professionals say

educate before you medicate.

There are SJS foundation UK and many countries have a support system in place.

my website is predominately for my handmade tote bags I will be making a blog to help people to understand Stevens Johnson syndrome. As a Ambassador for the knowledge off SJS my main aim is to write and show as much as I can and support anyone who needs support whether it be a survivor or a loved one who has been diagnosed with Stevens Johnson syndrome.

I am a 9 times survivor of Stevens Johnson Syndrome. I have run this support for 16 years with 1 year off in-between

Stevens Johnson syndrome is a horrific affliction which is cause by medicines, virul and bacterial infections. Most survivors of SJS have their own triggers mine is pain relief, cough bottles,anti-inflamitories( NSAIDS)

We are called survivors as SJS can  be  fatal, I know many people around the world who are survivors and we include their families too as its very frightening some of the families need support As well.

I have had it since 1986 through a blood transfusion, since then i have had it 9 times, when I took the first bout I was taken straight to City Hospital and put into a contagion single room as the medical professionals did not know what was wrong with me as they had never seen  it before. With a visiting consultant from USA diagnosed me with Stevens Johnson syndrome. That was the start off

my journey with Stevens Johnson syndrome.

I had just had my 3rd child and had to have a blood transfusion so time to go back home I was in pain so my GP prescribed Codeine phosphate for the pain. Within 30 minutes I was covered all over my torso a red, sore rash appeared. I was taken to The City hospital in a single room as the consultant did not know if I was contagious or not. Luckly a visiting Doctor from America checked me over and diagnosed me with Stevens Johnson syndrome, I was the 4th person in UK to be diagnosed with SJS but the first in Scotland.
